Ishikawa Urushi Studio offers authentic Japanese lacquer ware.

Ishikawa Urushi Studio specializes in making Japanese lacquer ware and is based in Kyoto, Japan.
We are highly skilled professionals with years of experience in providing lacquer ware for Japanese customers. With the recent increased interest in Japanese culture from outside of Japan as well as the spread of the Internet, we have decided to create a website in English. On this website, we will explain what lacquer ware is, what we have done so far, and what we can do. We hope that more people would get to know about us.
Kyoto, where Ishikawa Urushi Studio is located, was once a capital of Japan, and various traditional arts and crafts have been developed over its long history. There are also many skilled craftsmen. We will continue to make better products by combining our workshop technique and top quality craftsmanship with the designs that have been used for a long time in Kyoto.

The flash movie displayed on the top of the page highlights our motto “Ki U Ka” in Japanese. We coined the term “Ki U Ka” from the initial letters of three Japanese words, “Ki” (wood), “Urushi” (Japanese lacquer) and “Katachi” (shape), which are very important to create lacquer ware. We believe that the work of Ishikawa Urushi Studio is to make a product by carefully selecting “Ki”, “Urushi” and “Katachi”.

If you have any questions please contact us via the inquiry form. While we realize this may cause you some inconvenience, we would appreciate your understanding.
